                             The name of this organization shall be the PASSAMAQUODDY GUN CLUB, INC.



                             The object of this organization shall be the encouragement of organized rifle and pistol shooting among residents of Campobello Island with a view towards a better knowledge of the safe handling and proper care of firearms as well as improved marksmanship. It shall be our further purpose to forward the development of those characteristics of honesty, good fellowship, self-discipline, team play and self-reliance which are the essentials of good-sportsmanship.



                             III A Regular Member

                                        A person who has reached the age of 18 and possesses a current Firearms License appropriate for the type of firearm they wish to use. That person is eligible for membership in this Organization on the vote of the Executive Committee and upon payment of the current dues.

                             III B   Junior Member

                                      A person between the age of 10 and 17 inclusive is eligible to become a member of this organization on the vote of the Executive Committee and upon payment of current dues. The year the person turns 18, on the day of their birthday, they must have a firearms license to continue to be eligible to use the range facilities. See Article 9 Regulations for Range use, Facilities and Equipment, article 9d.


                             III C   Non-Shooting Member

                                      A person who has reached the age of 18 but does not possess a firearms License is eligible to become a member of this organization on the vote of the Executive Committee and upon payment of current dues. Non-shooting members are not eligible to possess or handle firearms or supervise firearm activities at the range.



                             All members in good standing shall have the privilege of using the facilities of the club under the Regulations and Directions issued by the proper authorities.

                                    Regular members in good standing shall have the privilege of a voice and of the ballot in all matters pertaining to the activities and welfare of the Club except such matters of administration as are delegated by these by-laws or subsequently by proper action of the Membership to the Executive Committee, Special Committees or Club Officers.

                                    It shall be the duty of all members to conduct themselves at all times in a manner becoming of a true sportsmen; to observe the rules and regulations of the Club and the National Parent Body pertaining to competition and safety; and to assist the Officers of the Club in maintaining proper order, discipline, safe conduct, and fair play.

                                    No member will be considered to be in good standing who is more than 30 days in arrears in the payment of dues or who has been suspended from the privileges of membership by proper action of the Officers of the Club.



                             (a) ANNUAL MEETING – The Annual Meeting of The Passamaquoddy Gun Club, Inc. shall be held during the month of March each year.

                             (b) REGULAR MEETING – The dates of Regular Club Meetings                

if desired shall be decided by the members at their Annual Meeting.

                             (c) SPECIAL MEETINGS – Special Meetings may be held at any time upon the call of the President, The Executive Committee, or upon a demand in writing signed by not less than one-third of the Regular Members in good-standing.

                             (d) QUORUM – 40% of regular members in good-standing shall constitute a quorum at any meeting.



                             (a) The Officers of this Organization shall be a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Chief Instructor, Range Officer, who acting together, shall constitute the ballot of regular members in good-standing present at any Annual Meeting. They shall hold Office for one year or until their successors are elected.


                             (b) The Executive Committee shall have general supervision of all activities of the Organization.

                                    (c) Meetings of The Executive Committee shall be held regularly, no less than once in each quarter of the Calendar Year, at such time and place as the Committee may determine. Special Meetings may be held at any time on the call of the President or on demand in writing to the Secretary by three members of the Executive Committee. In the case of a tie vote, the Chairman shall cast a second vote.

                                    (d) The Executive Committee shall have the power to fill any vacancies which may occur.

                                    (e) Four members of the Committee shall constitute a quorum.



                                    (a) PRESIDENT –   The President shall preside at all Meetings, call Special Meetings and generally supervise the club’s activities.

                                    (b) VICE-PRESIDENT – The Vice-President shall perform all the duties of the President in the latter’s absence or at his/her request.

                                    (c) SECRETARY – It shall be the duty of the Secretary to keep all scores and records of the Club and to attend to all other Clerical work.

                                    (d) TREASURER – The Treasurer shall take charge of all funds belonging to the Club and be responsible for their safe-keeping. She/he shall pay all bills provided by the President and the Secretary and shall also collect the dues from the members.

                                    (e) CHIEF INSTRUCTOR – The Instructor shall have charge of all small arms instruction with authority to appoint his/her assistants.

                                    (f) RANGE OFFICER – The Range Officer shall have charge of all the ranges of the Club, club equipment and the arranging and operating of competitions. She/he shall have the authority to appoint his/her assistants.



                                    (a) Any officer may be removed by a two-thirds vote of the members in good standing present at any Special Meeting called for this purpose. At such special meetings the officer shall be given a full hearing on the written charges.

                                    (b) Any member may be suspended or expelled from the Organization for any cause deemed sufficient by the Executive Committee by a two-thirds affirmative vote of the members of the Executive Committee present at any Regular or Special Meeting. The member under charges will be awarded a full hearing on the written charges.

                                    (c) Any member suspended or expelled by the Executive Committee may appeal to the full membership of the Organization. Such an appeal shall be made to the Secretary in writing who will notify the President, who in turn will call a Special Meeting, where a full hearing will be given the accuser and the accused. A vote will be taken by ballot of the members in good-standing present and a two-thirds majority shall be required to reverse the action of the Executive Committee.


ARTICLE IX      REGULATIONS FOR RANGE USE – FACILITIES AND                                               EQUIPMENT

                                   (a) No alcohol or drugs.

                                   (b) Range Officer and Assistant to sign Log Book for Organized Shoots.

                                    (c) All members of the group going to practice will sign the Log Book, with one of the members of the group acting as Range Officer (see Range Officer Responsibilities).

                                    (d) A Junior Member will not be permitted use of the range unless they are under the care and control of a parent or guardian who is a member in good-standing of The Club and has reached the age of 21.




                                    (a) Responsible for all people present.

                                    (b) Responsible for proper use of Range Facilities and Equipment.

                                    (c) Responsible to co-ordinate shooting.

                                    (d) Responsible to see that all present sign Log Book.

                                    (e) Responsible to see that ear protection be worn at least on the Firing Line and Range if possible.

                                    (f) Responsible to see that all Firearms Regulations be carried out.



                                    (a) Bolts or Actions must be open at all times except on the Firing Line after the command “LOAD’ is given.

                                    (b) The Firing Line shall be clear and Bolts or Actions open when people are forward of the Firing Line setting up targets.

                                    (c) No demonstrations or handling of firearms shall take place behind the Firing Line other than transporting arms to or from the Firing Line to racks or cases.

                                    (d) Disobedience of Safety Rules shall result in disqualification of the shooter.

                                    (e) A premature shot fired before the command ‘READY’ shall result in disqualification for the day’s Match.

                                    (f) A shot fired upon closing of Action when on Firing Line shall count as a Shot to Score.

                                    (g) Hearing protection must be worn at all times on the Firing Line.



                             In order to secure the Gun Club Facilities the gate to the old dump must be locked upon entering and exiting the facilities. Failure to comply will result in suspension of Privileges at the Range for one year.



                             The gate to the old dump will remain open during the shoot. It will be the responsibility of Officers present to lock the gate and secure the Facilities of the Gun Club upon conclusion of the shoot.



                             By a majority vote of members in good-standing the above articles may be amended at any Annual Meeting provided the proposed change/s has been given to the Secretary in writing by the first day of the month preceding the month in which the Annual Meeting is to be held. A written notice of the proposed change/s shall be forwarded by the Secretary to all Members by the 15th of the month preceding that of the Annual Meeting.
